A dog house needs to protect your dog from the heat by shielding it from the heat. Most dogs prefer a smaller area to curl up in, one that is large enough for them to stand up in and stretch out but not one that is overly roomy. Large open dog houses with just one room are a great fit for large dogs such as Great Danes, Rottweilers, and even big Labs. They will feel comfortable in a large space as they will fill most of it. However, if you have a small or medium dog you can still purchase an extra large dog house providing it has a smaller space inside so that your dog feels secure. If your dog is smaller, find a large dog house that has more than one room or is divided so that your dog can still enjoy the space without feeling lost. Your dog will prefer to curl up in a smaller space and this way you can enjoy the beauty of a big house while making your dog feel secure.
