Factory Automation Systems And Automated Equipment

Share: Material handling systems are aimed at minimizing time
, efforts and resources for movement, storage and upkeep of products, both raw and finished. It is an integral part of a manufacturing unit. Material handling systems are used in almost all the functions in an industrial plant. Nowadays it has become a sign of a developed economy to have lots of suppliers offering this equipment along with
warehouse control system and factory automation systems.
It involves movement, shifting, and transportation from one stage to another and getting in and out of a warehouse; that is the reason that it includes a wide array of tools such as simple pallet racks and shelves and more advanced and complex automated systems. Vehicles are controlled and guided from a control room remotely and thus it saves the cost of employing manpower and reduces the error rate.
Engineers have successfully programmed these systems to reduce error rate and operational delays. It is also aimed at enhancing the quality and volumes of production and keeping the production cost at all time low. That is the reasons they employ various strategies to make the system more efficient. They record the data on a regular basis that comprises of all the movements that might have taken place inside the manufacturing unit till the time the product is ready and sent out of the unit. For this they use advanced picking technology and control the wastage of resources such as those that occur due to system downtime etc.
Industrial automation systems involve many tools and equipment. Broadly we can divide it in four major types. The first one is storage and handling; this equipment is used mainly in the warehouse and inside the manufacturing unit. These are light weight machines that work in coordination with each other. Normally this equipment includespallet rack, shelving, lockers, hand trucks, binsandmezzanines.

Share: Next comes the bulk material processing systems, which include bulk bag dischargers, unloaders, bulk bag fillers, container dumpers for discharging of dry bulk material from totes, bins, drums, and gaylord boxes. These systems also include bulk material mixing and blending systems, agitator hoppers and storage bins and hoppers, flexible screw and solid core screw conveyors, and pneumatic material conveyor systems. Screw conveyors are meant for safe and automated material transfer of dry bulk goods. It is used both for moving material from bulk storage to an inline operation. The other two automated systems are engineered systems and industrial cargo movers.
