Let's say, your company has recently enrolled in Digital Marketing High, a prestigious yet overly populated high school accepting businesses from various geographical locations. It's hard enough as is to find a niche in such an overcrowded environment, but you were lucky enough to get a seat in SEO 101, and make a name for yourself. Now that you've got your foot in the door, you start searching for other ways to climb the popularity totem pole.

There's just one huge problem. A senior, Courtney Competitor, and her minions aren't about to let a rising star steal their thunder. So Courtney and her friends make up a rumor that you provided a bad service to one of their loyal fans and spread the news to all of Digital Marketing High in no time. Now, everytime you walk through the halls, you're fellow classmates ignore your presence, except the few that take the time to verbally berate you with no remorse. Mortified to ever show your face again, you take the time to talk to the Digital High guidance counselor, Mrs. Resource.

Being that you are such a young business, Mrs. Resource takes to you quickly and gives you a few pointers on how to redeem yourself. She introduces you to a business who had a similar problem, Google, and the two of you start to come up with ideas to seek revenge. Google happens to be very good friends with the school's gossip queen, Social Media, and together they made plans to help rebuild your reputation. Feeling a bit skeptical at first, Social Media bombards you with questions about your interests, beliefs, activities, anything under the sun that makes you unique. She then tells you that she plans to spread her new found knowledge to others whom she knows have similar interests. Being the nosiest person in Digital Marketing High, she knows exactly who to target and share your once private information.

A little bit of time passes, and you start to notice that the snide remarks and dirty looks are slowly disappearing, even changing into friendly nods and smiles. As more time passes, you realize that more and more students recognize your face and are asking to be your friend because they want to be constantly updated with your every endeavor. Some of them even follow you around the Twitter Cafe. You suddenly have events to go to every weekend and the cutest business in school has asked you to advertise your stuff for them. Your reputation has become quite buzzworthy and you've successfully launched yourself into a mass marketing machine. Courtney Competitor and her lemming friends can't even come up with bad reviews that could bring you down now. Google tells you that she has been kicked off of the top ten most searched for, and the senior class clown, YouTube, started a rumor that she has a bad viral infection. Oh, how the tables have turn.

The next few years at Digital Marketing High are looking good; you've fought your way back into the social circle and have built positive relationships with your followers. Now it looks like you have to just focus on those SEO classes to keep yourself in that position. Business is good; all thanks to Mrs. Resource.
