. Many people think that this can not be done without a lot of major equipment, but the truth is, it is quite easy to make your own wine at home. There are some simple steps to follow before you begin.
The first step is to have your fruit, you will need either grape concentrate or fresh grapes. You can not just buy a cheap grape concentrate from the store though, you will need a high quality grape concentrate. These can be found online as well as wine brewing stores. You want to start out your venture making a small batch to see if you like making your own wine. If you do then you will want to invest in some wine making equipment so you can make larger batches.
If you have chosen to use fresh grapes you will need to remove the stems and the skins of the grapes will need to be broken to release the juice from them. The basic way of doing this is to crush the grapes.
The next step is fermentation. This is where alcohol and carbon dioxide is produced by the yeast cells feeding on the sugar. You may not want to rely on just the yeast from the fruit and add additional yeast because sometimes you will not get enough from the fruit itself.
After the first fermentation is complete, you will need to extract more juice from the fruit. Then a secondary fermentation will occur. As the wine is aging it is up to you, the wine maker to determine how long you want it to ferment.
You can also blend the wine. This is an optional part of the process. It is used usually to improve more than one batch by mixing a couple batches together to improve the taste of one.
The last step is bottling the wine, you will need wax to seal the cork into place. This helps preserve the wine.
