Getting Channels on Your PC is Simple
With a little basic knowledge, it's easy to watch channels on your PC.
Here's a quick recap of my own experience with getting rid of cable.
I went through so many cable boxes and DVR's that I decided it was time for a big change- that's right, I was ready to cut the cable.
I'm sure you'd feel the same way if you had as many equipment failures as I did- DVR's that crapped the bed and seemingly unfixable signal issues.
OK, so I was fed up with cable because of the substandard service and frequently failing equipment.
I think TV should be free anyway, and I had enough of their ever increasing monthly charges!
That's when I said to myself, "Jon, you need to figure out how to get TV channels on your PC"!
Following are the "must-haves" I set forth when doing my research:
Has to be easy to use
Has to be reliable
Has to be proven
No monthly access charge is preferable
OK, back to getting channels on your PC.
I first found out about installing TV tuner cards in my computers.
Then I discovered that there were actual hardware solutions, such as the Boxee, that might be worth buying into. Unfortunately, these were found to be both unproven and, in some cases, came with a steep monthly access charge.
The Xbox 360 and other game systems can be a solution and can even do some web browsing.
Then I found some software that could actually make the job easy- no need to install anything but software.
Basically, this software lets you stream thousands of channels with a simple installation of their application.
Not only that, but this software allows you to easily both watch channels on your PC and stream those channels to your TV as well.
I do still use the Netflix account with the Playstation 3, as it is a very handy service.
Anyway, I hope my article was helpful to you, and good luck!
