Great Improvements On The Amazing Iphone 4

Apple have set a new standard for mobile phone manufacturers to attempt to follow with the new iPhone 4

. Not only is this the thinnest mobile handset currently available but it also boasts the highest resolution display.

The most obvious change on this new model is in the design. Anybody who owned a previous model iPhone will testify that despite its striking looks, the predominate features is the mass of glossy black plastic. This has now gone, along with many of the curves. In its place is a two sheets of chemically treated glass. Not only does this now give the phone a sleek and premium feel, but the phone is also now more durable and resistant to scratches thanks to the treatment that the glass. Apple report that this glass is 30 times stronger than plastic. Another advantage to using this glass in both the front and the back of the phone is that there is now a marked difference between black and white varieties of the handset, rather than it just being a different coloured back panel. Whereas the iPhone 3GS measured in with a depth of 12.3mm, Apple have shaved 24 per cent off this figure, meaning the new model now is an ultra slim 9.3mm. In addition to this 3mm has been taken off the overall width. These reductions in size means that the handset does now feel a little heavy as they weight has remained the same, but this only re enforces the feeling that the phone is very well made and high end.

The iPhone 4 maintains the same screen size as previous models by offering a 3.5" screen, but that is the only similarity. Reolution has not only been tweaked, but in fact doubled, meaning an incredible 960 x 640 resolution is displayed. Looking at it another way this equates to the phone showing 326 pixels per square inch, which is currently the highest resolution available on a mobile device. The new iBooks application is the type of example where this screen will excel. Text no longer looks pixelated, even when zoomed in, and the image actually looks more like printed word rather than computer graphics. The same screen technologies used in the iPad and iMac range are also used here. This method, named IPS, produces a more colourful image with deeper natural black colours and a wider viewing angle.

The iPhone 4 is now available and is an excellent choice for not only sesoned smartphone veterans, but thanks to the excellent user interface also for newcomers to the high end phone market.
