Happiness is not attainable in this world but only in the hereafter. It all depends how you define happiness and identify it with. If your criterion for happiness is to have a house of your own thus you will be happy then this is achievable. If your happiness is to buy a car and then you will be happy then you have attained your happiness.
If you are happy and contended with a good job which appeals to you and satisfy your hopes then you have attained happiness. If your aim in life is to make money and be rich and this makes you happy then you became rich with a lot of property and big investment, then this represents you happiness.
Little things make children happy. Success in life makes people happy. Well, what's left then? You have attained your happiness in this life and do not need any other happiness anywhere else.
But, alas, this is not the case. For this life has a specific nature and does not allow for your happiness to be attained, that is complete happiness for all your life. If you are a happy-go-lucky person and feel always happy then you have attained a complete mental health that is reflected in your life.
But life does not offer such an opportunity to everyone. Life does not offer happiness to everyone all the time. Every individual person taste in his, or her, life some fears of some sort. Everyone is subject to illness and shortage of either food, good health, money, good family, good friends and good society to live with.
There is no one person, at least I did not hear of any person who is happy all his, or her, life, with no problems none whatsoever, no worries, no shortage of anything, no death in the family, no loss of friends or dear ones. Everyone has problems, no one cut off from a tree and lives a life time of absolute satisfaction, unless you know of any.
Our life is built on problems and problem solving. It is based on our needs and desires.
The house you can buy, the car you can have, the money and riches you can attain and the great family you may have, all are transitory stages in your life. Perfect life is none existence. Reflect on your life and see what I mean!
In most human cases. Rarely people are happy. If there are good times in every person's life then this is not the rule. If there are sometimes in some persons' lives some satisfaction then this is not always happiness. Contentment and satisfaction are a state where all negative things are absent and only positive things are present. But how many individuals or communities are in such a state?
Then the real question if life does not offer its juicy happiness to anyone when and where can man taste of such a happiness? Most of us feel, if not all, that only at death we are finally liberated from the burdens of life and the burdens of our own selves.
Death releases us from the burden of our body, psychological pain and life problems. If life is not always full of problems then most of our lives are spent in problems.
If a man tastes of partial satisfaction and contentment then what he tastes is illusory, temporary and transitory. No state of happiness is real and permanent for a life time exists for anyone.
The structure of our worldly life does not permit this state of permanent happiness. If a man feels satisfied and contended for a while then its is for a certain while. According to the religious outlook, it is when man has believed in God and the Last day and then according to his own belief and good deeds shall be awarded eternal felicity.
It is only at this moment that man attains happiness. In other words happiness is defined in terms of eternal felicity. It is for such an eternal state of happiness man does not taste any similar happiness in his life.
It is because man ought to suffer and feel unhappy in his earthly life that is contrasted with eternal happiness. After all why should man be offered happiness for evil thoughts, evil deeds and disbelief?
Man ought , and is made for, to earn his own happiness by his own beliefs and deeds. No one else can earn him this happiness who alone merits or does not merit!
