Henkel Teroson Employs Five Self-cleaning Filters To Increase Efficiency

Henkel Teroson UK was looking to shift its processing requirements by replacing drums

for immediate bulk containers (IBCs) for the transportation of plastisols. With a need to streamline their filtration of plastisols Russell Finex offered alternatives to the current vibratory sieves and after careful consideration five newly enclosed self-cleaning filters were installed in their Cambridgeshire factory.

A key requirement for Henkel Teroson was the resourceful loading of IBCs. The innovative self-cleaning filters provided an inline function, eliminating the need for mesh cleaning. Oversize particles that were expected to interfere with the spraying of the plasticols in users factories were easily removed. An exceptional SpirokleneTM system continuously cleans the surface of the filter element and ensures optimum filtration efficiency.

The Self-Cleaning Russell Eco Filter offers an effective solution to their filtration needs. Henkel Teroson was able to improve product quality by removing oversize contamination and ensure that a consistently high flow rate was maintained reducing the need for operator control. Filter bags and cartridges are prone to leaving significant waste, but the self- cleaning filters provide a cost effective and environmentally friendly way to reduce waste.

The self-cleaning filters have been designed specifically to meet the requirement for high volume continuous production. The filters feature an electrically or air-operated wiper blade, which keeps the microscreen clear of solid oversize. The unique design ensures there are no stoppages to change filter elements and there is unrestricted liquid flow where the oversize descends to a sump, which includes a solids discharge regulator. The design of the self-cleaning filter offers higher production rates compared to other filtration methods, as there are no production stoppages due to changing bag filters or cartridges.

The range of self-cleaning filters is designed for easy operation and maintenance. They are simple to disassemble and clean without tools, allowing for fast and more efficient product line changeovers, therefore increasing productivity. The units can fit tidily into existing production lines, providing considerable filtration capacity without requiring excessive space.

The filters are completely enclosed and manufactured from stainless steel keeping the plastisols free from airborne contamination. They are also easy to maintain and adhere to strict COSHH regulations. These regulations safeguard operators from any harmful materials, but also ensure noise in the factory is kept to a minimum.
