Bed sores are basically ulcers which starts appearing on the skin when an individual
is confined to bed for a long period of time and is unable to feel any pain or is in a state of immobility. Bed sore, also known as pressure sore is considered to be a major problem with people who stay bedridden for any reasons like poor nutrition, loss of bladder or bowel control or poor mental condition.bed sores happen to be a painful problem and require an extended stay in the hospital. In some cases, healing of bed sores can be a challenging task.
Low air loss and alternating pressure techniques are considered most beneficial in treating and healing of bed sores. This can be done with the help of suitable mattresses. To understand the use of an appropriate mattress, you should know about the stage of bed sore developed on the patient. There are total 4 stages:
*Healing of stages 1-2
Mattresses designed for this stage are quite cheap and are placed on top of hospital bed. These mattresses comprise of simple foam and springs.
*Healing of stages 1-4
Mattresses of this category are manufactured to cover almost all stages of bed sores and hence are quite expensive.
*Healing of advanced stage
Mattresses that fall in this section are quite fast and strong at healing process. They comprise of 3 pressure regions which treat head, trunk and the feet parts. Due to this characteristic, they are known to provide maximum comfort to the patient.
*Bariatic alternating pressure mattresses

*Lateral Rotation Mattress
