Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you wish you had an extra case of batteries with you? It can happen anywhere on-the-go or at home

If you're stuck without back-up power for lights and other important electronics you could easily find yourself worrying. Almost all portable electronics take one of the basic battery standards. The most commonly used types are AAA, AA, C, and D batteries. Also fairly common are 9 volt batteries, although they're not as widely used for portable rather than electronics like carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and transistor radios. These are important for in-home emergencies like fires and gas leaks.

As for the AAA and AA batteries, they can be used for items like walkie talkies, radios, fans, small flashlights, and other hand-sized electronic devices. Bigger flashlights, camping gear, and other specialty emergency items will probably need C or D batteries because they have more juice than the smaller ones. D batteries more specifically are used in specialty items like radio receivers and safety systems which can be used by emergency tech crews and response teams. They can also be used to power megaphones and items used by police officers for spreading safety information and evacuation procedures. All of which you could easily overlook unless you checked to see what powers the device.

You should always have these stored somewhere in your home, in an easy-to-access drawer. You should also keep a package or two in your car, your bag, or near an emergency aid kit. Always make sure you buy them in bulk too so that you don't run out because you can go through them very quickly. And believe it or not, they do have expiration dates so be sure you keep on top of that even though it could take a few years before they go bad.

It's very easy to forget just what little electrical charge is necessary to power such important items. And if you can find rechargeable versions of these batteries you're in even better luck because you can reuse them and know that they're always there should an emergency arise. Make sure you get a variety of these power cells because chances are not every device that you need to be working will take the same kind.
