They allow a passage wherein you can easily communicate with far off friends and relatives and make new ones.

When you make your profile here, you enlist certain qualities of yours that are better kept secret, e.g. your nickname. You will also release certain details like your status, financial position, address and contact. This gets in plain view of a multitude and the Cyber bully among them distorts you through the information.

Effects of Cyber bullying

Cyber bullying can affect you grievously if you are giving it proper atmosphere. This is to say that if you live alone, spend much of your time online and are of young age; say from 18-25, you are easy meat for Cyber bullying. It is not without reason that one needs guardians. You should not play fodder by interacting with these bullies, who act as Mr Know-it-all, and show you the way to lead your life. You may be inducted into dark studies or coaxed into putting money into a cause, whether through stealing from your parents or through other means.

Cyber bullying can make you lethargic (since you spend most of the time on your chair), introvert, lacking confidence and suicidal. You will begin to think that you are no use to your life. Sometimes, when the bully is knowledgeable, you will see devious uses of your own information and how it translates into your normal life and spoils it.

Other trends of harassment

Cell phone harassment is another feature. Some people enjoy giving you threatening calls or messages or just plain blank calls at regular intervals. You will surely get irritated by the behavior. Sometimes, you are trapped by using your weak point; say affinity for sex talk. You will be sent inordinate sexual texts, hyperlinks or video links of YouTube. These are all abuses which ask to be reported to the Cyber bullying campaigns or law agencies.

In the first glance, report these overtures. You should also make sure that your friend is not becoming a victim. Make teams to promote awareness against this crime. Sadly, there is no rigorous imprisonment for perpetrators of this crime, but with time, it will happen.
