. But immersion is not possible for most of us. So how do we become fluent when we can't be in an area where we can we immersed. One way is to find internet site that have buddy systems where they have people from all over the world. Once you meet these people through chat on their site you can use your phone or a communication service such as MSN messenger, Google Talk or Skype. The only problem is that you can't guarantee that your partner is influencing you correctly with the proper grammar. However you are getting a chance to speak and listen. If you want to be influenced correctly when you are becoming fluent it is a good idea to speak with someone that is well versed in the language and can help you when you say something incorrectly.

Try to get a feel for the language you are speaking.

Sometimes we work so hard on the grammar and correctness of our speaking that we forget to feel what we are trying to say and hear. Some good ways to do this is to listen to someone who is a native English speaker. One of the ways to do this is to watch movies in English and pay attention to how they express themselves and not only what they are saying. Another way is to try reading articles or short stories in English. Try and see what the person is feeling through the words that you read. Once you can feel the language that you are trying to learn then you can express yourself more freely in that language.

Some people watch themselves so closely when they speak that they cause themselves to make more mistakes. Don't study while you are speaking. Do your studying at another time. The speaking will come more naturally. Try to pay more attention to what you are trying to express to the person that is listening to you than the words and grammar that you are using. Then pay attention to the response that the person that you are talking to has to say. Many people say that when you can joke in a language that you know it well. I believe this is true. This means that you are getting the meaning of what you are saying and not just saying it according to the rules.
