How To Cook Lobster and Make Drawn Butter The New England Way

Learning how to boil a lobster dinner should not be intimidating

, it's actually pretty easy to make if you follow these simple instructions. To make the very best lobster dinner I recommend using the New England boil method.

The Classic Maine Lobster Boil Recipe:

1. Fill a large pot half way full with water.

2. Add 1/8 cup of Sea Salt.

3. Set your stove burner to high and bring the water to a rolling boil.

4. Once the water is boiling rapidly, add the lobsters to the pot, making sure that they are mostly submerged.

5. Cover the pot so it can return to a boil quickly.

6. Once water is boiling again, turn the burner down to medium high to reach a slower boil and prevent the water from boiling over.

7. Cook the lobsters 10 minutes for the first pound and 3 additional minutes for each additional pound of lobster, for example, a two-pound lobster would boil for 13 minutes.

8. When the lobsters have turned fully red, they are done.

Drawn Butter Recipe

1. Melt Butter in a small or medium sauce pan and slowly bring butter to a slow boil.

2. Remove the foam and solids that collect on the surface of the butter.

3. Remove from burner and carefully ladle the drawn butter into small individual serving cups.
