Eating simple carbohydrates also throws off and slows down your metabolism because it doesn't have to work as hard to break down the food. Therefore, you should consume complex carbohydrates that require effort to be broken down. Your metabolism will thus speed up and stay working at a higher pace all the time. Energy will become available to you as you need it.

The second method you can use to develop a healthy metabolism is to eat a healthy breakfast every single day. When you eat breakfast, you kick start your metabolism and prevent your body from going into starvation mode. In starvation mode, your body will do everything it possibly can to hold onto stored fat and slow down your bodily systems in order to save calories. That means that later in the day, when you do eat food, your body will not be ready to handle it, and many of the calories will go unused and become stored as fat. So you definitely need to eat a healthy breakfast consisting of at least some of the following: low fat protein, low fat dairy, fruit, and whole grains. For example, you could eat some yogurt with granola, low sugar cereal with banana slices, or a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter. Also try to avoid eating a lot of sugar in the morning. You might want to try drinking milk or coffee instead of fruit juice for this reason.

The last method you can use to develop a healthy metabolism is to get some aerobic exercise. Even a little exercise goes a long way. It is generally recommended that healthy s get at least twenty minutes of aerobic activity a day, three days a week. This will not only help you burn a lot of calories, but it will also speed up your metabolism and your body's efforts to use up energy derived from food.
