How blogs help in SEO

Everyone at this point knows and interacts with the blogosphere

, be it through simply searching for information on your topic or writing one yourself this new form of marketing that was once considered a fad but I believe is here to stay. We all know that blogs can help our business by informing current clients and finding new ones but how can it help us in the search engines? A good place to start is right on your site but for this article we will mostly look at what you can do with it externally.

Name of the game in SEO is exposure, the more exposure you have the more the search engines recognize you and the higher you will rank. Pretty straight forward right? You blog can be used as a tool to gain that exposure but remember that for every one of you there are ten others gunning for the same spot, you have to been keen and cunning in order to beat them out. This means quality content, you are looking to attract visitors not repel them and just like you when they see mistake or syntax errors they yell nonsense and move onto the next valued source. Write like you are sending a letter to your mother, with care and love only keep the part where you ask for something in return out, the idea of blogs is to express your knowledge so you can become an authority on the topic. The more you give the more you get. With this said the search engines also recognize quality, even more important they recognize originality. One of the many reasons a site gets "slapped down" to nonexistent in the engines is because unoriginal content is frowned upon, your search is no good with the same content floating everywhere and makes their job more difficult so while this means a lot more effort on your part it's well worth it.

There are RSS aggregators out there that allow you to insert your blog for update on their site, I know what you're thinking, "Well than they would be pushing out my content and that would be unoriginal wouldn't it?". Well stop thinking! Just kidding, these sites are pushed into folders as "news" related and put in their proper place within the search engines, you are not a news feed so don't act like one. However, submitting to these sites is a great idea for link building and drawing traffic (which by the way Google will notice how much traffic your site pulls), you are gaining exposure as every time you update your blog that content is pushed through their network for people to pick up on. Keep in mind now the potential for links, do some internal structuring within your content to include links back to your site and you're in the gold.

To end keep in mind all content is added to your company site which is great, Google eats up original content and as your content goes up so too does your ranking. There are only upsides to pushing a blog on your site so go for it, let others know you are a pro and you will attract customers and ranking.
