How to Choose the Right Cleaner For You

In today's world most of us want to live and work in a hygienic environment. We take this for granted in most of our work places but for some of us the pressures on our time mean we don't always have time to keep our homes as clean as we might want to.
If this is the case then we might want to consider getting a cleaner. Far from being a luxury which is reserved for the very wealthy like in the days of butlers and housekeeping staff, a domestic cleaner is much more common place and affordable than you might think.
For a relatively low cost every week or fortnight you can have a domestic cleaner come into your home and keep on top of the bigger cleaning jobs for you and your family.
So, if you are considering getting a cleaner, what are the key considerations when doing your research and making your decision? Here are some useful tips:
1. Be clear what your cleaning needs are to be so that you can let prospective cleaners know what you want and therefore allow them to work out how long it will take them.
2. Decide how often you need to have the main cleaning duties carried out - this will depend partly on your budget and partly on the size of your family and the amount of activity in your home.
3. Only consider cleaners who can give you full ID details, criminal record checks and employer references for themselves and their staff.
4. Ensure you check whether or not they have insurance for accidental damage and breakages. If not, then look elsewhere unless you are happy for your home insurance to cover this. If they do have insurance ask to see proof.
5. When you have narrowed down your potential cleaners to a shortlist then ensure that they come and look at your house before they give you a finalised quote for the work you require and before you choose to engage them. This is because it is hard to know how big a job is until a cleaner has walked around your house discussing your specific requirements.
6. Always get quotations from at least 2 or 3 cleaners so that you can compare them and go back to them for a revised quote if necessary.
7. To help you decide you can always use the internet to see if there are any reviews of the cleaners in question. Be careful not to just rely on one bad review however but if there are many good reviews then they are probably a safe bet.
As well as working through the above check points we always advise that you also rely on your gut feel - if somebody doesn't feel right to you then they probably aren't right for you.
Finally, it is always prudent to agree a trial period with your new cleaner. This way you are setting out in advance that they will do one or more cleans for you and then you can decide whether to continue with them or not.About the Author:
