Teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other people in fields that were once thought to be secure, learned in the blink of an eye that they were not. 2010 is now upon us, and unfortunately, things do not seem to be changing.

700 billion dollars! That is how much the United Government decided was needed to fix the problem. I know several teachers who lost their jobs because of budget cuts. The other day, the front page of the paper said that Wal-mart just outsourced 11,000 jobs. Car dealers around the country have been shutting down. People with 4 year college degrees are applying for jobs paying less than $10 an hour. I do not think that the 700 billion dollars worked. I give the government credit for trying, but something else needs to be done.

People are hurting right now. Unemployment is a great think that we have access to in the U.S., but it can only help for so long. It is time that people start planning for the hard times, before they hit them so hard that they can't get back up. I was listening to the radio yesterday. The DJ was talking about a friend who had been laid off several months ago. This friend had been on countless interviews, unfortunately competing with very large numbers of applicants. This friend is now extremely discouraged, and has lost the motivation to keep searching. Do you know anyone that this has happened to? I think that we all might know someone is this situation. The scary thing is, we do not know if we will be the next person in that same spot. This is why we need to be pro-active about out futures.

Entrepreneurialism is what the United States was founded on. It is not just here either. Nations around the world are seeing changes every day because more and more people want more out of life then a 9-5 will give them. Business ownership is the dream that most people have, but they are reasons why they do not go for it. Many people do not feel that they have enough time to build a business. Many people do not have the income to start one. With some, they do not feel knowledgeable enough. There are countless excuses that people use not to start a business. What they need to realize is that times are changing. You do not need a lot of time, money, or even knowledge to start a business. You simply need the ability to get the knowledge, the humbleness to learn from someone, and the attitude and commitment to do what is needed to secure the future of you and your family.

It is possible for anyone and everyone out there to start their own business these days. It is the American Dream, and not nearly enough of us are living it. No matter how secure someone feels in their job, the fact is that we never know who is next to go. When we stop taking that chance and use our free time to secure our futures, the world is going to be a completely different place. I was working 3 jobs plus in college when I started building my business. I did not know a lot, but I knew that I wanted more than what I had. The key is to TAKE ACTION!
