You may find your mind wanders and your efficiency dwindles even though you know there are deadlines to be met and work projects to be completed. However much you try to get back on track all you can do is force yourself to keep awake and stop your mind wandering.
But wait a moment there is a technique which will keep you motivated, have renewed enthusiasm and raise your energy levels and get you started with your work once again. The secret is as soon as you begin to lose interest and energy is to take a break, in fact, you need to take regular breaks every day to get away from whatever you are concentrating on even for a few minutes.
It is well known that once you have started something it's easier to continue with it even if you take a break. Many people use this technique as a way to manage their time because its often an efficient way to get things done than trying to complete something which takes many hours without any break.
What does having a break involve? It means getting away from what you are doing. It could involve having some refreshment, either tea or coffee or other drink with or without some food. The latter is good for keeping your blood sugar level at a reasonable level so that you feel more energetic and more able to continue after your break with increased motivation to complete the task.
A break can also mean going into the fresh air and doing some exercise such as a short walk or a few toe touching bends and some stretches too.
Sometimes, if leaving your desk is not possible, instead just close your eyes and take some slow deep breaths in order to let go of any tension and breathe in confidence and motivation.
It's vital to do this every day so that your motivation remains high and you are able to keep going. After your breaks your personal batteries will be re-charged and your motivation will return: you will be able to come back and continue with your work with renewed energy. Instead of becoming stale and bored with your work you will find new ideas come into your head and you will tackle your work tasks with motivation and creativity.
