The quickest way to take a look at what your competitors is doing is to do a keyword search for items or products like yours. Think of what keywords your customers use to find your products and then use those same keywords to find the products your competition is offering.

What you're trying to learn here is what kind of profit your competitors are making compared to what you are making in that same product sales. When you look at the result ask these three questions.


1. Where do your products rank in price?

2. Are there many competitors making more money selling the same particular products or just some?

3. Why?

No matter what the answer is to your second question, the answer to your third question is what is going to make the difference in how much money you make from this point forward. Why are they making more money than you? How can you improve your sales so you can a bigger piece of the pie?

Alternatively if you're making more money than your competitors you should ask still should still WHY? The reason you want to ask this question is because you want to identify what youre doing that makes you stand out from the rest. That way you can stay ahead of the games and even learn to improve upon your methods.

As you begin to scope out the competition make note of the most successful of your competitors. That is the sellers with the best feedback and the most completed listings are going to be your main competition. Hold on to these notes, as we're going to take a better look at them later.

We mentioned before that you may want to buy a few inexpensive products from your competitors so you can see the quality of their customer service. As an added bonus you may be able to get a news letter of their other products and promotions. Pay particular attention to whether they send you a thank you letter of some sort asking you to add them as a preferred seller.
