Identity Theft Can Be Done Using Your Garbage

It seems that the saying "there is money in the garbage" does not only apply to scavengers

, but to thieves as well. Trash becomes an asset for them to pursue identity theft. So they are always on the lookout for every garbage bin to pin their next victim. This only proves that garbage is a gold mine for criminals.

Garbage becomes accessible to everyone once it is discarded outside our homes for pick up. Anybody who wants to pick it up may do so. There is no restriction prohibiting somebody to get it and bring it home. It seems lawmakers are not bothered with identity theft caused by picking other people's trash as there are no laws yet to arrest this.

Criminals who consider garbage as a treasure always go through the garbage bin. But to people who consider it as worthless may wonder what could be in the trash that interest them. And what are they going to do with it. This question they cannot answer actually predisposes them of identity theft.

Shopping lists, notes containing numbers, water bills, electricity bills, phone bills, and gas bills are just among the treasured trash that may bring about this crime.. This supplies the criminal an access to the life of their victim. Once they got hold of these stuffs, it is easy for them to manipulate it to their own advantage.

In the United States and Canada, many people are already victimized. Thieves had taken cash out from their fund and even taken altogether their identities. So they can actually do whatever they want to do with it because they know they are not held liable for whatever debts they will create.

If someone goes through your trash and find rejected credit card offer, they may use this to purchase anything they want with you bearing the expenses. They will not do this once only or in a single purchase but this will go on until detected. This credit identity theft will not be ignored by the thieves.

Since this crime could be committed from trash, discarding of these important bills should be with responsibility. One way to do self identity theft protection is to destroy all pertinent information related to you before finally tossing it to the bin. Ignoring this simple habit will cause you your identity.
