Since spring is upon us and the summer is on it's way it gets harder to sit down

in front of the computer each day and carry out the stuff required to set up a successful home based company. In the instance of internet marketing, for instance, creating articles or reviews and creating back-links gets not so attractive when the out-of-doors calls to you.

But these are the instances when it can be particularly critical to fulfill your agreements with yourself. The longer you allow things to slide the harder it is to get going again and the longer it's going to be before you see outcomes that will help to motivate you further. And, in the meantime, there's the little boost in energy that comes from observing your agreements, specially when it took a bit of effort to do so.

One method that works for me is to visit my favorite cafe, treat myself to a cappuccino and put pen to paper there. At least I get to take pleasure in the outdoors as I'm walking. Of all the "tricks" I have for developing my writing routine this is my favorite. I find it very hard to write at home, no matter what the weather. It's always the same with any task I'm resisting. There are simply too many things to distract me - too many excuses. But going to an environment I enjoy being in works a treat.

I find that even when I'm really struggling to write I'll usually create something when I am in the cafe. Even if it's not particularly good quality. I also enjoy writing in the public library (reminds me of contented university days) and on a bench on the prom overlooking the beach.

A productive location is an important factor in relation to motivation so I recommend playing with what works/does not work for you. It is not simply about physical space either. I find I cannot write, for instance, if there are some songs playing in the background. Orchestral music I can manage but anything with lyrics I can hear and I simply cannot focus.

At times I find lighting a candle on my computer table helps me to tackle tasks I've been pushing aside. I don't know why. There is just something I find uplifting about it.

So, I recommend you test various places and environmental conditions and build up a range of conditions that enable you to feel more motivated to carry out those jobs you've been procrastinating about.
