Blogs seem to be the new "it thing" to get your site out there quickly. People read your blog and from your blog you can link to your website to gain one way links to your web site. So it naturally seems to me submitting them to blog search engines will get your blog more in the spot light and increase your traffic further.

My guess would be it suggests replacement words in your content to allow the major search engines to clearly see what the page is about. I still think your own site optimization, if you know how to optimize it for the search engines, is the best option. Otherwise, this may be a viable option for people with lesser experience on optimizing.
