Installing Recessed Lighting In Your Kitchen

Kitchen as we know is a place where a lot of time is spent also requiring a concentration and test of skills

. Either it is an open kitchen or a closed room type; all require lights to ease the job. Either one is cutting the vegetable or meat or mixing the ingredients, or measuring the scale, an appropriate light is required.

When the kitchen is being designed, design it carefully with many points kept in mind, such as

* Convenience

* Safety

* Economy

* Achievability

* Ergonomics and aesthetics

* Ventilation

* Capacity

* Repairs ease and serviceability

Most of all; lights play an important role. Figure out your main work areas, such as wash basin, cutting counter, stove, ovens and storage racks.

Recessed lights are available in the sizes of 3 inches diameter to 6 inches. Main places to address with the direct light are

* Cabinet tops (Place light under the storage rack on top of the cabinet top) with a 2 inch diameter light or fluorescent tube light.

* 4 to 6 inch light on top of the sink. Normal rule is, if you place a 4 inch light, the gap between the two must be 4 feet, similarly if the light is 6 inches in diameter the gap must be 6 feet.

* Over the stove. (stove hood tops, or ceilings)

* Spot lights on the wall directing into the storage cabinets

In case a halogen bulb light is used anywhere either a flexible neck type spot light or a recessed light, it must include a voltage transformer, but avoid the close contact anywhere close to the wood or any combustible material as halogens produce lot of heat.

Lights do not simply provide us an ease of seeing or looking at things, they also provide us a therapeutic effect. It is very well known in the medicine, lights are being used to cure many diseases including the mental. So, proper placing of lights giving us enough practicality also provides us to relax our nerves and these effects into more quality and quantity work. As kitchen is one place where families spend most of their time so this can be one place where the therapeutic advantage can be got maximum.
