Kathy Griffin might not be on the "D" list for much longer
. The relatively well-known star who likes to play off her mishaps on the Bravo network television show My Life on the D-List is now a contender for a Grammy Award in Best Comedy Album for her Suckin' it for the Holidays. Griffin is up against "Weird Al" Yankovic, Stephen Colbert, Patton Oswalt, George Lopez and faux rock band Spinal Tap. If she doesn't win the coveted award you can bet that her next event will mention the loss.

Griffin's popular television show has recently been confirmed for a sixth season, as previously taped episodes were recorded earlier in the year for the expected January premiere. The show's sixth season is set to feature assistant Tiffany Rinehart, tour manager Tom Vize, mom Maggie Griffin and dogs Chance and Pom Pom, reports People Magazine. "Let's just say we are hoping the premiere episode will be Cher-tastic," Griffin said to People.
In addition to filming the new season of D-list, which has picked up two Emmy Awards (in 2007 and 2008), Griffin will also be touring, visiting venues in Phoenix, Albuquerque, Washington, Seattle, Dallas, Palm Desert and more through mid- April. Her jokes will probably remind fans of her new memoir, Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin, a book that appeared in September and caused a stir when she confessed to splurging on diet pills and disliking her co-star's husband, Andre Agassi.
"I lost 15 pounds friggin' fast in season 1 [of Suddenly Susan]" starring Brook Shields, she said. "But being on television...I was never thin enough...what I can't figure out is why I wasted time worrying about my looks. I am a comedian. I'm not on the runway in Milan."
At just 5-foot-3 and hardly 115 pounds, it is hard to image the fiery redhead being anything but eccentric, especially when it comes to her small frame. Griffin was raised in Chicago by her father, an electronics store manager, and mother, a hospital administrator. Though she caught the acting bug early, acting in local theater productions by age five, it wasn't until the late '80s when Griffin was in her late twenties that she found comedy, working with the sketch comedy troupe the Groundlings alongside soon-to-be big names like Lisa Kudrow, Will Ferrell and Julia Sweeney.
Her acting break finally came in 1996 when she starred in the NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan with Brooke Shields. During the show's four season's Griffin picked up a few major silver screen roles like a part in Ben Stiller's The Cable Guy, but turned to comedy with her cable series Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List in 2004. A huge reality television star, she has hosted a plethora of award shows and Comedy Central Specials.
