Latest Intel Ssd 335 Series With New Refreshing Features

The newest SSD 335 Series is a new progressive update of the SSD 330

, released this year. Some minor software changes have been done and the major iterative difference with the SSD 335 is the NAND. The SSD 330 uses 25 nm MLC NAND and the SSD 335 takes care of advantage of a die shrink using Intel's 20 nm MLC NAND.

There are other hardware components which remains the same that includes the SandForce SF-2281 controller and SATA 6Gb/s interface. For a performance perspective, the latest SSD 335 still provides burst throughput of 500MB/s read and random write IOPS of 52000 which stands up from 22500 and 33000 in the prior generation SSD 330. There is some other small change that the SSD 335 will only comes up with 240GB capacity. The SSD 330 came in 60GB, 180GB, 120GB and 240 GB capacities.

The Intel's SSD 335 falls into the mainstream of SSD category which is an enthusiast SSD 520 big brother. It's very interesting that Intel is opted for single 240GB capacity point in the market that is sensitive to high price. The 240GB SSD 335 will probably retail somewhere in the $185-190 price range, a doubled price of the 120GB competition. It is less than high-performing SSD 520 and about the same capacity is slightly smaller 180GB SSD 520. The market is overflowing with options that Intel is providing single in their mainstream offerings. It is interesting to see that Intel shifts courses and expand the line or leverages the SSD 335 to try and drive more users upstream to the SSD 520.

Includes a 3 year warranty with the SSD 335. It has a 240GB of capacity, Sandforce Sf-2281 controller, Intel 20nm MLC NAND. Having performance of sustained sequential read of 500MB/s, 450MB/s, and random 4KB read which is upto 420000 IOPS and random 4KB write of 52000 IOPS. Also includes a form factor of 2.5'', 9.5mm drive height and measuring a weight upto 78g. Having interface of SATA of 6Gb/s and an Active 350mW and Idle 275mW power with a temperature of 0C to 70C and non operating -55C to 95C with a 3 year warranty.

The latest Intel SSD 335 is shifted away from the normal 9.5-mm, a two piece construction of the SSD 320 and SSD 520 which is instead of opting for a top case-half that takes up the full size without any external spacer use. The 9.5mm design, a bit curious which has given by Intel offering SSDs in a 7mm drive height which is clearly the right direction which the market is going with many new SSDs come up with a 7mm drive height standard.
