Learn To Identify Exactly How You Can Connect With Your Readers
One of the hardest things that many journalists or article writers have to conquer is connecting with their readers.
Even from a marketing stand point, if you can't connect with your readers, then you're kind of useless as a writer.
I mean, what publisher is going to publish an article that they don't feel ANY connection to at all? Or that they can't see how anyone could connect to?
Not many probably. Even if YOU feel like people should be connecting to your articles, it doesn't matter much if nobody else does.
So what I'd like to talk to you about today is a couple ways that you can really start to connect more with anyone who reads your article, be it a reader, a publisher, an editor, a customer, ANYONE!
Powerful writing is a great tool for anyone's arsenal, especially a marketer (Like myself) who needs to be able to convert readers to customers.
Alright, well let's not waste anymore time, I'd like to go ahead and start working on getting you up to speed on becoming a very powerful writer.
The first tip that I recommend for you is to make sure that you understand the type of writing that you do.
Are you a feature writer? Do you write articles on recent events? Then it's your job to make sure and cover said events in a way that's both accurate and emotional. Think about who's going to be reading your features, and then think about what parts of the stories are going to be most important to them, or going to evoke the highest emotional response...Those are the parts of the story that you should highlight.
Are you writing for marketing purposes? Make sure that your writing does a good job of conveying the benefits the reader will receive if they do what you want them too. For example, if you're writing to promote an ebook, make sure to hit on the benefits that your reader could get from the book.
Do you sort of see what I mean about writing to your audience?
Alright, the second tip that I have for you is to make sure that when you're writing you take some time to include some very powerful language. For example, which sounds more powerful:
Jack went outside, it was pretty hot. He went back inside to get some water.
Or...
Jack made his way out into the blistering heat of the midday sun. He could barely stand the feeling of the heat, staggering under the intense rays of the sun...He retreated back to the safety of his home to relieve his overheated body with the sweet feeling of a glass of ice water.
Probably the second one, right? There's not a whole lot more I can say about this one...Just write so that you engage your reader. Use descriptive language. Not too hard.
Anyways, that about wraps up this guide...I hope that you've found all this information pretty helpful...Good luck writing powerful articles!
