Getting a dollhouse for Christmas is what every little girl has been wishing. I believe even Santa Claus would agree with me, and I bet, most of his letters from little girls have dollhouses and accessories written all over it. Even me myself would want to get wood dollhouses so it would look realistic compared to plastic-made. Now that I'm grown-up and have little girls of my own, I share the constant nagging and begging to give them wood dollhouses as well.

So, I've gathered a few tips and some safety measures before you type in your credit card number and order that pink dollhouse that your child has been eyeing out.

If your little girl is below three years old, make sure that the parts detachable from the dollhouse are twice bigger than her fist. Choking is indeed a very common accident with kids playing with small parts, that's why toys have this Choking Hazard sign, and recommended age bracket for a particular toy.

If you are buying online, be sure to check the product carefully, and make sure that there are minimal or no sharp edges that could possibly invite a bruise or a gash. Be careful with dollhouses with metal parts as well. If you ask me, wood dollhouses with curved or smoothed edges are the best choice.

If your dollhouse is taller than your child, make sure it has a sturdy foundation and would not easily topple down with a few weight applied to it. Chances are, your child may climb over and if that does not happen, the dollhouse will not fall down.

If you already have the dolls to be placed in the dollhouse, like Barbie or Bratz dolls, check your dollhouse if it would work with child's dolls. If they do not, then you kid may not be really that interested then.

And lastly, don't forget to bond and play with your little girl with the dollhouses for once. This is a very stress free and a very nice bonding moment with your little princess.

Dollhouses have been very popular even before and these wood dollhouses were first to be introduced, then came those plastic dollhouses, which in my opinion will never be good enough for me. Nothing beats the good ol' wooden doll house. These playthings come in various shapes and sizes that could make one decide with difficulty. Dollhouses are indeed timeless and its popularity will really last long time.
