A newer product that has hit the market within the last few years is an electronic cigarette that is made to look and feel like an actual cigarette.

The electronic cigarettes are more commonly known as disposable e-cigs and can be found in many bars, online, and in stores. Since the disposable e-cig does not release smoke into the air they are legal in all public facilities. Disposable e-cigs run on batteries that can last up to three hours. Replacement batteries are sold for only a few dollars and can be recharged up to approximately three hundred times. At the current time, disposable e-cigs have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, but can be purchased legally anywhere they are sold. The cigarettes are available with nicotine and can be purchased with different amounts or levels of nicotine.

With nicotine gum and patches, there are people who wonder why smokers would need an electronic cigarette. Trying to quit smoking cold turkey is not a desirable method of quitting for most people. Quitting cold turkey usually results in more people relapsing since there is nothing to slowly take away the body's dependence on nicotine. With alternatives like nicotine gum and patches, people are able to use a step-like program to eventually wean their bodies from the control that nicotine has on it. The same can be said for disposable e-cigs. Those who try to quit using other methods say that getting used to the feel of the cigarette between their fingers, in addition to the body's reaction to the nicotine and other ingredients of the cigarette, is one of the reasons they are unable to quit by using nicotine gum or the nicotine patch.

Disposable e-cigs are just now starting to catch on in popular cities across the country. It is unknown just how many have been sold so far, but there is definitely a growing trend in the popularity of these cheap alternatives to cigarettes. As the cost of real cigarettes increase per pack- in some states smokers are paying well over six dollars a pack for the more popular brands- the disposable cigarette is quickly becoming a more desirable means of getting bodily reactions to nicotine, without breaking the bank. Each cigarette can cost up to roughly fifteen dollars, there are websites that sell them for a few dollars less per disposable e-cig if purchased in larger quantities, but are equipped with batteries that can be recharged over three hundred times. If attempting to quit smoking or saving money on the habit, disposable e-cigs are definitely worth the small investment and are not banned in public places.
