Colorado is a favorite place to visit for those who want tons of winter ski adventures
. Most of its ski resorts are world class. Also, its ski resorts such as Aspen and Vail are famous worldwide. Some ski tournaments are held in Colorado.
Here's a list of some Colorado ski resorts:
Arapahoe Basin Area - has a total of 69 trails. This area of Summit County is the embodiment of Colorado's careless status. It is where locals do their skiing during the peak season of tourist visits. It has dangerous terrains for extreme skiing. The resort has one of the longest seasons where it starts to open in October and ends its season on Fourth of July.
Aspen Highlands - has a total of 131 trails. Aspen or Snowmass has four mountains, namely, Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, Snowmass and Aspen Highlands, two towns, 42 lifts and has a land area of 4993 acres. Its vertical drop is the steepest in Colorado and has the most remarkable terrain. The locals love the Aspen Highland Mountains. It can be accessed using a free shuttle. The views in the mountain include the famous Maroon Bells which can be seen while one is skiing in the White River National Forest. It is the hangout of Olympic medalists because of its Highland Bowl, Steeplchase and Olympic Bowl.
Aspen Mountain - is the flagship of Aspen or Snowmass. It is 11,212 feet high and stands proudly at the heart of Aspen's downtown. This mountain is for advanced and intermediate skiers.
Buttermilk - has a total of 44 trails. It is located about three miles away from the town of Aspen. 74 percent of the snowboard and ski terrain is recommended for beginners to intermediate. Despite its trademark to be the resort for learners, Buttermilk is the place for ESPN's Winter X Games till 2007.
Snowmass - has a total of 88 trails. It is Aspen's giant mountain that offers diverse terrains for snowboarders and skiers. Its terrain is convenient for all level of skills, all age ranges and all winter sport passions. Its area is about 3,100 acres. The mountain resort is located 12 miles from Aspen's downtown.
Beaver Creek Resort - has a total of 146 trails and awestruck vertical of 4,040 feet. It is for all levels of skiers, including to those who wants to bring home the World Cup. In here, one can get a view of the well-known Three Hundred Days of Sunshine and Colorado powder. The areas renowned Talons have the steepest raceways and are called by locals the "Birds of Prey."
Breckenridge Ski Resort - has a total of 146 trails and is Colorado's largest notable district. Aside from the extreme sports offered by the mountain's terrains, the residents are eager to offer fun for nightlife. The trails cross through four intersecting mountains that make the resort the largest skiing area.
Copper Mountain Resort - has a total of 125 trails. It is only 75 miles away from the west of Denver and is found between Gore Wilderness and Ten Mile. It is boasted to be "Colorado's Perfect Ski Mountain" because of its well organized trail system that boosts the mountain's exquisite geographic characteristics. Thus, the terrain for expert, intermediate and beginner skiers and snowboarders are separated naturally.
Vail - has a total of 193 trails. The resort is the best destination for skiing because of its terrain and size. It ranks as the North America's number one ski resort without fail. For the past 17 years, it is recognized as number for 13 times.
