Little Ladies And Gentlemen In Formal Attire

You have heard the cliche "dress for success"

? How impactful are the clothes you wear? Think back to high school prom night. Those same rowdy boys just hours before were terrorizing the halls of school, being tough, being cool. Suddenly it is prom night, the tuxedos come out, and the boys are driving their father's cars, holding corsages for their dates, opening doors, offering words of encouragement, and using manners. Is it the tuxedo? Slapping on a pair of worn vans as oppose to shiny shoes and a starched shirt does change the way you feel about yourself.

What about the girls? The same holds true. In a beautiful floor length dress, a pair of heels and grandma's jewelry, the girls walk with confidence, with poise and just a little taller. For the guys and girls sitting properly dressed in formal attire, conversation flows a little less freely at first. People feel a little uncomfortable dress in unfamiliar clothing initially. It takes some getting used to. This must be what it would be like for a commoner to marry into royalty. Clothes aren't the measure of a man, but they do affect how you feel about yourself.

If you work at home in your pajamas, it is hard to be as effective as when you shower and get dressed for the day. Pajamas aren't work clothes and the brain seems to know this. We live in a casual society; formal attire is relegated to wealthy fund raising dinner, weddings and funerals. Some weddings are even casual with jeans and tee shirts. This is too bad. Weddings are formal occasions and should be treated thus. The guests behave better and the atmosphere is conducive to the importance of the event.

Put a fluffy dress on a little girl and magically she is transformed into a princess. She prances, struts, and flits. She feels pretty and she will often act accordingly. For formal occasions, there are wonderful boutique type stores that sell children clothing in Austin. Put that little boy in a suit, let him carry the ring on a velvet pillow and he will feel like the man-of-the-hour. Fluff up those little girls in dresses of pink, yellow, red, lavender and watch them priss around. They often steal the show.

Dress for success, dress for the occasion, pull yourself to greater heights by looking the part. A football game or a formal dance, clothes do influence the way we feel and act.
