The first thing you have to do is to bring out the coin and hold it between your thumb and pointer finger. Tell a volunteer from your audience that you will count to three and if by that count, he can grab the coin from your hand, that he can keep it. Ask your volunteer to stretch out his arm in front of him, with his palm up and open. Then, lift your hand holding the coin above your head, and bring it down over his hand with each count of one to three. In order to make the coin vanish on the third count, the trick is to gently drop it on top of your head.

For the part in which you are to make the coin reappear, hold your volunteer's hand out in front of him, again with his palm up and open. As your volunteer pays attention to this gesture, you must gently lower your head and let the quarter fall into his hand. The coin will appear to have fallen from the sky.
