That might sound like a great way to have your home page appear at the top of the search engine rankings, but it probably isn't going to work out that way.
Search engines like it if you work to build those hundreds or thousands of back links gradually. If those back links appear too quickly, the search engines will most likely penalize you for that. You'll see your home page falling in the rankings instead of climbing. In fact, your website may disappear from the search engines completely. Be very careful about how you go about building your back links.
