Maryland Auto Parts Salvaging

What is the true purpose of an auto salvaging yard

? This is perhaps a question some may feel it necessary to ask, and the answer would seemingly be that they simply store unused or unwanted vehicles. However, a salvaging yard is a lot more than that and is also thought to be a viable industry. To fathom their significance, one must first understand the underlying cycle of motor vehicle manufacturing.

First a car is manufactured, it is put through the required tests and then marketed for sale in many countries across the globe, not the least of which is the United States of America. This car is then bought by someone, let us say his name is John. John drives his car for a couple of months or maybe even a couple of years. One day he's driving home from the market and he comes upon the intersection at Finster Avenue, he looks left and he looks right, the road is seemingly clear. He turns unto the road and unexpectedly as if out of nowhere, a car hits his vehicle on the passenger side. He comes out of his car, he is unharmed, he analyses his vehicle and considers that this may just be an irreparable or overly expensive damage to actually fix. After a few weeks have gone by, he and his insurance provider decide that the car should be written off. The car is then taken away by a reputable salvage yard from its transient home in a nearby garage. The owners of the salvage yard, realize that this car has working parts like its engine and transmission which are still in almost brand new condition. They retrieve all the working parts from John's former vehicle and scrap the car for metal. These parts are then sold to Kate, Alex and Richard who will not only receive working parts, but will also spend far less money than if they had purchased these parts new. The scrap metal is then sold to a nearby metal recycler. This metal is then bought by a motor vehicle manufacturer who will reuse these metals to make another automobile.

Maryland is not a unique state where auto parts salvaging is concerned. Many auto salvaging yards operate in Maryland that may be used to store and purchase parts and scrap metal from unused motor vehicles. Once there is an interest, the internet and even a normal local directory has many listings of operators in the state.
