Mobile Cloud Computing Is A New Trend In Mobile Industry

Mobile devices will soon become cloud computing drive and vice versa

. It is because, usage of private cloud is a very sensible decision for security, management and other features of mobile applications. But to acquire that, consistent planning and sensible investment is required.

Some of the IT companies have already taken this leap. As per the survey, in 2011 December,3,645 IT decision makers in eight countries across the world have moved to private cloud. The sole purpose behind their move was providing information access to multiple devices through cloud computing. Experts also stated that a reduced cost was also one of the reasons for implementing cloud.

Though, mobile cloud computing and mobile computing sound similar but in actual they are two different terms. In mobile computing mobile applications run on a mobile device in native mode with all the data and application stored on the device only. In contrast, mobile cloud computing applications is meant to run on the huge servers that reside in the cloud. Application data is stored in the cloud and is fed to the mobile device via 3G or 4G network. Mobile users can access these applications on their devices through web browsers.

What is need of Mobile Cloud Computing over Mobile computing?

Applications running in native mode has some advantages like the user don"t have to bother about latency or network bandwidth problems. But the basic limitation that native mode applications are facing is the restricted functionality and incapability to access business-class applications. To be clear, we can say that it will be very rare to find an mobile app that will be secure to use for database queries.

Mobile cloud computing permits its users to potentially run robust and scalable mobile applications under the sufficient security layers. Though, there can be issues like latency or network bandwidth problems for the transfer of data between cloud and mobile device.

Clouds may smoothly let the user access the mobile applications, It organizations and developers must be careful about positioning an enterprise cloud to accommodate mobile computing. Like, Identity management must be extended to mobile devices.

Moreover, the applications must be architected efficiently, so that applications running on mobile devices can access back-end corporate software and data residing on the cloud.
