Modes Of Transport From Ghaziabad To Delhi

Ghaziabad, an industrial city in the state of Uttar Pradesh

, lies very close to the National Capital Region, which Delhi forms a part. The headquarters of the Ghaziabad district, Ghaziabad is considered to be a planned city and one of the fastest growing cities in India backed by the construction boom.

Delhi, the capital of India, was the seat of many rulers, Mughal and British included. Dotted with tombs, forts and monuments, Delhi is the political nerve centre of India. Other than the British inspired Lutyens Delhi, Mughal monuments and heritage structures like Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Purana Qila, Humayuns Tomb, and Jama Masjid can be found.

Ghaziabad being a large industrial city and Delhi being the capital, both these cities are well-connected by roads and railways.

Ghaziabad lies at a distance of 30 km from Delhi. It takes less than 40 minutes to cover the distance. Many new flyovers and freeways had been built, connecting Ghaziabad and Delhi, during the 2010 commonwealth making travelling easier. The drive from Ghaziabad to Delhi takes you on the NH 24 bypass and passes through towns like Dundhahera, Patparganj, Shakarpur, finally terminating in Delhi. A large number of people commute to Delhi from Ghaziabad every day for work

There is no air connection between Ghaziabad and Delhi. The nearest airport to both the cities is the Indira Gandhi International airport.

There are bus terminals of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) are found at Mohan Nagar, Lohia Nagar, Loni, Vasundhara from where buses are available to Delhi. Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses are available from the Anand Vihar bus terminal near Vaishali. Other than the state buses another popular mode of transport are the chartered buses plying between Ghaziabad and Delhi. Mainly catering to the office going crowd, these chartered buses charge a fixed amount of Rs. 20 and are managed by private operators.

Ghaziabad has a railway station and is connected to Delhi by several long distance express trains as well as the fast moving local trains called EMU. Trains from Ghaziabad arrive at three different stations in Delhi, namely New Delhi Station, Hazrat Nizammudin Station and Old Delhi Station. It takes about 40 minutes to travel from Ghaziabad to Delhi by train.

Some of the trains that connect Ghaziabad and Delhi are Jat Muri Rourkela Express (18110), Haridwar Mail (19105), Dehradun Express (19109), Nizammudin Kota Express (29019) and Bareilly Express (14556).

Another mode of transport that connects Ghaziabad to Delhi is the Delhi Metro. The Delhi Metro that connects Delhi with Dilshad Garden station has been extended to Ghaziabad and Vaishali, a suburb of Ghaziabad. The Blue Line from Dwaraka Sector-9 connects to Ghaziabad with two stations in Ghaziabad, namely Kaushambi and Vaishali.
