Volunteer In Delhi It Was Deeply Rewarding Experience
Delhi the capital city of country India in Asia is said to be one of the oldest existing
cities in the world along with Varanasi which is also in Northern part of India. Delhi is said to be built and destroyed 11 times and the existence of this city is estimated over 5000 years old. Delhi is also the largest and most crowded city in North India and I experience it all which was so breathtaking. I visited Delhi during summer and it was one of the best experiences of my life and I also volunteered in slums at old Delhi.
Volunteering in Delhi is also one of the best choices I made as I felt those kids with whom I worked needed some love and help from someone and this time I am I glad that I was able to devote my time for them to be with them. In, Childcare Volunteer Program I along with two other volunteers from Canada used to spend most of our time with these poor kids and we used to help them with teaching basic English and also other subjects such as Maths, Geography and General Knowledge which was very helpful to them and us as well as it was deeply rewarding experience.
I personally feel there is loads of requirement of volunteers here in Delhi with these kids who live on street. I have witnessed some of the kids sleeping on fruit vegetable stands and the reason when I asked them was the fear of rat bite. It was emotional and you know you couldnt do very much about these situations but what I did was spent some time with them and gave them love which was very much needed by them and I feel it was essential for their growth as an individual.
Apart from Volunteering in Delhi, I also visited many sights on weekends and after work on weekday. Delhi is such a beautiful and culturally complete city and you will feel it when you visit this city. You will experience the richness in their food which is famous worldwide and I would also like everyone who is reading this take extra precautions with food while in India as it takes 2-3 days to get accustomed to the India spices used in food and it can sometime cause Delhi Belly, the term which is given by people. I would recommend all to visit this city and volunteer whenever you can.
