Money-saving Maintenance - How To Save Money On Electricity

Your electrical appliances, when not working at its maximum capacity will often end

up consuming more energy and are not as efficient as it is made out to be. In order for you to save more money, you will have to learn how best to save electricity.

Here are some ways you can do so:

1.Keep your appliances clean and well maintained. Regular cleaning and maintenance keeps your appliances in top shape, hence, it will perform better and consumes lesser energy. Energy saved is money saved.

2.Have an annual checkup by a qualified service technician. This can reduce the appliance's operating costs by as much as 20%, extend the life of the system, and improve its safety and air quality.

3.Whenever you use air conditioning, make sure that you first establish a comfort temperature and set your thermostat permanently at that level. This way it can help save on your electric bills and your air conditioning unit will take less energy to cool air that is four to five degrees as compared to eight and ten degrees.

4.Replace any items that may have been 10 years or older already. Old appliances are most likely not at their optimum efficiency. By replacing them, your electric bills may be cut by half.

5.If you experience a power outage, make sure you turn off the switch on your appliances and allow time to pass before turning the appliances on again when the power returns.

6.When it comes to your refrigerator, you are not advised to stuff compartments with bottles and plastic containers as they can overwork your condenser and not allow cool air to circulate. Also keep make it a habit to always close your fridge door when possible so that cool air does not break out and will cost you less energy.

7.When you are out shopping for new electrical goods, you want to keep an eye out for the energy saving label or logo, this is because most new appliances with these logo consume much less energy and help save more money on your utility bills in the process.
