My Washington DC New Years was so much fun last year that I can't wait to come back and celebrate in 2012. A friend of mine suggested that we fly to DC from New York to celebrate somewhere else for a change. We are both born and raised New Yorkers and have done it all in NYC and were ready for a change of scenery.
We arrived for our washington dc new years the day before so we could get settled and scope out some sights we wanted to see over the weekend. DC is such a breathtaking city with so much to do and see we figured we'd need to move here to take it all in.
For our Washington DC New Years we did our planning well in advance, because like New York City the events sell out fast. One party that really caught our attention was the New Year's Eve Gala hosted by a company called Professionals in the City. Everything about it sounded great: from the food, to the open bars, the midnight balloon drop, themed rooms and so much more.
The Sunday after new year washington d.c. we woke up and ordered an amazing room service breakfast. Then we hit the town to shop. The two of us are serious shoppers, so we headed over to Georgetown and found some amazing clothes. Then off to the Pentagon City Mall for more shopping. We bought so many things we actually had to make a trip to a shipping store and have everything sent back to New York because our things would not fit into our suitcase.
But to top off Washington DC New Years were the two men we met at the New Year's Gala party. They promised to visit us in NYC a couple of weeks, and they did. The whole weekend was incredible.
