Ncaa Basketball Tickets - Big 12 Rundown
Even though most Big 12 Conference sports fans are still knee-deep in football season
, the most experienced Big 12 athletics supporters already have their eyes on the upcoming college basketball season. The Big 12 looks to make a huge mark on the national scene this upcoming hoops season, and already there's lots of buzz about the teams from this premier league. We don't want to bore you with all the little details (you still have lots to think about as football season gets more and more intense), so here's a quick rundown of the top storylines in the Big 12. If you're interested in seeing a game this season, check out NCAA basketball tickets for Big 12 games.
Kansas: The New North Carolina - Every time the hoops games start up there's an overwhelming No. 1 favorite. This year it will be Kansas. The Kansas Jayhawks are largely expected to top every preseason NCAA basketball poll, including the AP and Coaches Polls, so they're going to be hyped pretty good by the time the season actually begins. The pressure will be on. They'll have expectations to match UNC last season, what with Cole Aldridge and the rest of the gang returning to take on the Big 12. But will they follow through like the Tar Heels? Aldrich will be joined by Sherron Collins, Marcus and Markieff Morris, Tyshawn Taylor and Xavier Henry in what ought to be a balanced team reminiscent of a Kansas team that went pretty far just a couple of years ago. Rock, chalk, baby!
Texas: Too Many Guards, Not Enough Bigs - Sometimes too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Other times, it means lots of victories. Texas has been known for providing some large and speedy guards over the past few seasons, and this year they'll be stacked even thicker with point guard and shooting guard talent. Frosh Avery Bradley joins Dogus Balbay, Varez Ward and Justin Mason as well as one of the most exciting recruits a year ago, Jai Lucas, a transfer from Florida. If the guards can all work together and a system gets into place where everyone works with one another, as opposed to competing with one another, this will be a run-and-gun, hot shooting offense. But who will rebound for all of these shooters and drivers? Will we see lots of zone defense?
The Muddle in the Middle - With so many good teams, sorting through the melee will be a difficult task. The Big 12 has plenty of great teams, which should lead to a fantastic season of play from start to finish. But who will win a Tourney spot and who will go to the NIT or stay home? We can already see some deserving teams being left out of the Madness. Teams like Oklahoma, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Baylor, Missouri and Iowa State all have eyes for the postseason, but not all of them will make it. You'd better cheer for your team hard if you want them to advance.
