New York Attractions, Excitement At Every Corner

Many families are staying close to home this year and vacationing in the United States instead of traveling abroad

. One of the top vacation destinations is New York Attractions because it is the city that never sleeps and there is something for everyone. The kids will enjoy the parks, museums and the Broadway shows, while Mom and Dad will enjoy many of the same events along with some designed just for grownups.

Everyone who visits the city should go see one of the largest buildings in the world, the Empire State Building. For security purposes, those who are not going to climb the stairs or ride the elevators or escalators need to exit the building or go in one of the many shops at the bottom. There are several different little stores surrounding the bottom of the building that people frequent while they are waiting for the rest of their party to descend from the building in the clouds. The view from the top is magnificent and some people say they can feel a slight swaying in the building if they are standing very still.

Times Square is another famous part of this city that can not be missed. And it looks just like it does on television and in the movies. There are theaters and shops lining each side of the famous metal art fence that is seen in many shows. There is also the big teletron style screen that has various ads on it. There is so much to see and do that one could spend an entire day simply going in all the shops and having a bite to eat at one of the famous delis.

Broadway is a great place to be entertained for parents and the entire family. There is the popular shows that have had a long run and are still going strong and then there are the newer plays. These are the cutting edge plays that make people thing about what is going on in the world around them. All of the plays typically have one or more popular or famous actor or actress in them and it's not uncommon to stand at the stage door for an autograph.

Ellis Island is a really special place, especially if a family's relatives got their start there. It is a great piece of history and will inspire everyone to be a little nicer to those who don't know the customs or language of America. There are large boats that shuttle people back and forth to the island and there are knowledgeable tour guides who can tell visitors everything there is to know about the island and its purpose.

Travel just a little ways outside of the city and one will find Niagara Falls. This is a fun place for everyone in the family. There are rain-ponchos so don't worry about getting wet. There is a boat that takes people up close and in front of the falls and a walkway that people can walk behind a portion of them. People can view the falls from the top or the bottom and there is a nice little gift shop where people can purchase souvenirs to take back home with them.

The Statue of Liberty is another place a lot of people want to visit when they come to this unique city. Some people tour the famously large statue by helicopter and they can see other sites as well. Some portions of the statue are open to the public while other areas are closed for safety reasons.

One of the most memorable and endearing sites of the many New York attractions is Ground Zero. They are currently building on the site and there are several make-shift memorials in addition to a larger memorial erected the year after September 11, 2001. Next year will be the tenth anniversary of this Nations largest terrorist attack on our soil and people come from all over the world to view what once was. It is an honor and a privilege to leave a flower or a note on the fence just so people remember and know they are still being thought of.
