New windows do wonders for a house's kerb appeal
Walking along any road, it is impossible not to be tempted to look at all the different
styles of house frontages, and on that basis, decide whether (or not) we would like to live there. Of the many factors which give a house what is known in estate agents' parlance as kerb appeal', the garden and how the front of the house looks rank among the highest considerations.
It doesn't matter whether the owner of a house is considering moving, making the view from the road as attractive as possible gives the impression quite rightly, as it turns out in most cases that the person living there really cares about their surroundings, and has devoted some time to keeping them well tended.
And as windows and doors usually take up a large proportion of the space in a house's frontage, they can play a huge part in determining its kerb appeal factor. Old and neglected windows are, for many people, an immediate turn-off. They can really badly affect a house's overall appearance, especially when there are giveaway signs of condensation, showing that they don't do a very good job of keeping the warmth in, and the cold out.
Even relatively modern uPVC double-glazed windows lose their effectiveness over time, as moisture finds its way between the panes of glass. When there is a substantial difference in temperature between the inside of the house and outside, this can cause fogging', which if left untreated, can become a permanent fixture. Not only is this unsightly, but once it has taken hold, it is difficult to get rid of. It shows that the vacuum which should exist between the panes of glass is not present, and the cold air from outside the house is meeting the warm air from inside.
Such a sign should act as a warning that the windows in a house aren't up to the job when it comes to retaining the warmth created inside the house, where it belongs. And that means it's time to look at replacing them.
But if the thought of trawling through the phone book looking for double glazing companies, and the whole rigmarole of getting quotes doesn't appeal, there is an alternative. Fortunately, there are companies to turn to which do all the legwork, so that all the householder has to do is choose which quote they want to accept.
Using customers' recommendations as a big part of their selection process means that people are presented with a choice of already-proven specialist companies, which are likely to have a good track record in the industry. So when a house starts looking a little unloved, even from a distance, it's time to call in help think of them as headhunters for the home.
When it comes to finding a trustworthy company to install
double glazing, there is help at hand. Not only will they pinpoint
cheap double glazing suppliers in the area, they will also use customer feedback as part of the selection process.
