Newark Dodge dealer looks forward to new Chrysler 200
The Sebring will be no more, but before you get too sentimental over it, note that it has been transformed into the Chrysler 200. Why auto makers keep insisting on naming cars with letters and numbers is beyond me. It's very confusing and redundant, but so be it.
The new Chrysler 200 was unveiled to about 1,800 dealers recently in Orlando and the model is geared to be competitive with the likes of the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Ford Fusion and Chevy Malibu. Some touch competition. The Camry has been tops for years and the new Malibu is sharp.
But Southfield Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge owner Dan Frost says of the Chrysler 200, "It's definitely an import buster, and there will also be a really attractive convertible." Now that is exciting. Your Newark Dodge dealership is convinced that the Chrysler 200 will be popular with buyers.
The new 200 will be manufactured with the Avenger in Sterling Heights, MI. And make no mistake - this won't be like the last Sebring model. The new Chrysler 200 has some exterior style changes and a complete reworking of the cabin. The Avenger is getting changes as well, mostly cosmetic.
One change that won't be cosmetic is the option of the now-famous 3.6-liter Pentastar engine, debuted in the new Jeep Grand Cherokee to rave reviews. It does offer optimum performance for those who love an exciting driving experience.
Customers of the Newark Dodge dealer will be able to see these changes within the next two model years. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, however, is already in the showroom and still creating a big buzz. It's just in time for Chrysler, as the company has struggled not just with financial woes, but with some models that just didn't have a lot of market appeal.
The Grand Cherokee has helped the company get past that, as have more recent offerings in the sedan fleet. Sales for the Chrysler Sebring were up 81 percent in the first eight months of this year and the Avenger sales rose 50 percent. So why give them makeovers? Chrysler apparently thinks it can do better. Time will tell.
"They've really addressed some shortcomings in the product lineup. They went after fuel economy and quality interiors," noted AutoNation President Mike Maroone. That's apparently something they found was important to their customers. Interior space does seem to become more important to buyers, whether they are spending more time in their vehicles or just feel they deserve a pleasant space while driving.
Chrysler also revamped the Chrysler 300 sedan and the Dodge Charger and refreshed the interiors of the Patriot, Dodge Nitro and Jeep Compass. Your Newark Dodge dealership is proud of the new lineup and believes customers will love the changes.
And they didn't stop there. The minivans, Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan, have had their changes too. The Town & Country will focus on maximum seating and amenities for the family and the Grand Caravan will lean toward the crossover category.
The new looks are one thing, but Chrysler has to look at the bottom line. Newark Dodge dealers have no doubt the rest of this year will be as successful as the first eight months.
