Nfl Tickets - League Upsets In Week 15
Empires fell in Week 15 of the NFL's regular season
, proving no team is safe from eviction from the throne. Just when the playoff picture was starting to fall into place, a few big games from Week 15 shattered it all, and here are the biggest upsets of the week in the football realm.
Dallas Cowboys, 24; New Orleans Saints, 17 - Fans with NFL tickets to the Week 15 matchup got their money's worth for this game, as the Cowboys stunned the nation with an epic win over the Saints. Drew Brees took a beating at the end of this big game, and the Cowboys ultimately came out with the big win, becoming the first team this season to beat the Saints.
Neither team has been playing its best football in December, but Dallas rallied from a Week 14 loss against the San Diego Chargers and gained stock in the NFC. New Orleans did a poor job at converting on third downs, and this fact coupled with Tony Romo's almost perfect night led the Cowboys to the biggest win of their season.
Carolina Panthers, 26; Minnesota Vikings, 7 - Julius Peppers was on fire in the Week 15 Panthers-Vikings showdown, and even with the inexperienced Matt Moore facing off against the seasoned Brett Favre at the helm, Carolina stuck it to Minnesota relentlessly. Running back Jonathan Stewart rushed for 109 yards in the Week 15 game, and Steve Smith's 157 yards receiving helped the Panthers embarrass the Vikings to no limit. Brad Childress even considered benching Favre once it was obvious that Carolina's defensive line was tossing around the quarterback but No. 4 stuck it out, albeit to a tough loss.
Oakland Raiders, 20; Denver Broncos, 19 - The Denver Broncos just put their playoff stance in jeopardy, and it could all be slipping away if they play again as poorly for the rest of the season as they did in Week 15 against the Raiders. QB JaMarcus Russell saved the day for the Raiders after he replaced the injured Charlie Frye, and his fourth quarter pass to Chaz Schilens for a 10-yard touchdown gave Oakland a one-point lead with 39 seconds left in the game once Sebastian Janikowski booted the extra point.
Pittsburgh Steelers, 37; Green Bay Packers, 36 - The Pittsburgh Steelers needed a win against Green Bay to solidify a legit shot at making the playoffs, and they might just have the chance to knock out the Broncos for a wild card spot if things play out to their advantage over the next two weeks. The Steelers-Packers showdown was one that gained a lot of press in the days leading up to the kickoff, and all for good reason as these two equally-matched teams are on the cusp of making the playoffs.
Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers threw for 383 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 15 game, but he was still upstaged by Big Ben Roethlisberger, who put in one of the best performances of his entire career even despite getting sacked five times.
Roethlisberger threw for 503 yards and three touchdowns while becoming only one of 10 quarterbacks since 1950 to throw more than 500 in one game. The game ended when Mike Wallace caught a 19-yard pass in the end zone in the final play, and the Steelers managed to squeak past the Packers at the last possible second.
There is still plenty more play time in the regular season as December comes to a close, and now that the dust has finally been kicked up, it's hard to tell when it will settle as the NFL readies for the postseason.
