What is PEZA? According to its website, PEZA, or Philippines Economic Zone Authority

, is the Philippine government agency tasked to promote investments, extend assistance, register, grant incentives to and facilitate the business operations of investors in export-oriented manufacturing and service facilities inside selected areas throughout the country proclaimed by the President of the Philippines as PEZA Special Economic Zones.

The term Philippine economic zones, or ecozones, are used to define a collection of industries, brought together geographically for the purpose of promoting economic development. One popular example of an ecozone in the Philippines is Clark Special Economic Zone, in Clark Pampanga.

nuvali, a community developed by Ayala Land Corporation which spans from the cities of Santa Rosa and Calamba, Laguna, is also included as one of the few peza zones in the Philippines. So what makes such a community a PEZA zone?

The Lakeside Evozone within Nuvali was accredited as one of the PEZA zones which gave Ayala Land Corp. the freedom and the right to improve their community, which involves massive land expansions as well as building different industrial infrastructures.

The reason why Nuvalis Lakeside Evozone was recognized as a special economic zone or an ecozone by the government is because of its efforts to maintain natures beauty. The Lakeside Evozone was carefully conceptualized with well-thought out facilities and infrastructures such as telecom redundancy, central sewage treatment plant and underground utilities in a campus-type setting with generous open spaces, landscaped parks and sidewalks, parking areas with permeable blocks, and located near the lakeside shops at NUVALI and the NUVALI transport terminal area.

Their goal is to create a business district located south of Makati City, which is now known as a fast-growing business hub, while pushing for the protection and conservation of its environment, such as preserving the popular lake within Nuvalis community.
