Obama Grants for Mothers: Education Is Top Priority

. Since his campaign to become President, Barack Obama has made education a key issue. Many important people are focused on increasing scholarship opportunities and improving education. College expenses continue to increase even as the economy slumps. Tuition and housing costs often far exceed scholarship offers. Unfortunately some students turn away from higher education because it's too expensive. Single moms are especially affected in a bad way. To put more educated minds in the workforce and ensure that families are cared for, it's important to educate moms. Creating college grants for moms is one way the President is dealing with this issue. Because of his efforts many people now refer to Federal Pell Grants as Obama grants. With these grants, college-bound students can receive over $5,000 to pay for school. For mothers and other students, this is increase of available money is valuable help. With these grants for moms, they can pay for tuition, books or any other school-related expenses. The American Opportunity Tax Credit is also a very valuable program. With this tax program, the first $4,000 of community college or university expenses are free. This is a worthy incentive, especially for schools that are less expensive. Single moms often fall into this group, so these programs are particularly beneficial to them. Another great factor is that students aren't particularly targeted based on what or where they study. Diversity is encouraged. Moms and students of all kinds can go to school with a little less to worry about. The President has demonstrated that he considers this issue a priority. With the recent passage of the economic stimulus plan, a lot of college loans will be offered by the government. There is more government emphasis on properly preparing students for their future at all levels of education. There is also emphasis on encouraging more students to consider community college. At a community college students can gain important knowledge as well as save money. In 2007 Obama stated, "We need to put a college education within reach of every American. That's the best investment we can make in our future." President Obama has shown he is serious about action. The mission to educate all Americans is certainly helped by providing scholarships for mothers. Traditional and non-traditional students alike have numerous opportunities to put their education first.
