, has just received its backing from the BBC trust. The scope for digital content development and interactive services could be huge. Major Players, the UKs leading creative recruiter, is already planning for a massive surge in demand for digital design talent.

What is it and what can it do?

Grad Hadfield, director for strategic projects at digital consultancy, Cogapp has previously said Channel 4, ITV, Arquiva, Talk Talk and BT are all on board for what its stakeholders and the press are calling the evolution of internet TV. The scheme will introduce a set top box branded as You View, which will enable viewers to fully engage with their TV sets and the internet simultaneously. Viewers will also be able to bounce back and forth from live feeds, archives and comment via fully integrated social networking sites at the same time.

What is perhaps more interesting though is that Canvas has the potential to open up the market entirely in a commercial sense, so its likely that companies are already starting to develop new devices in order to cash in quickly, ready for the 2011 launch. But its not just commercial organisations that could benefit from this. Shannon goes on to explain that Companies thinking ahead will be looking to put together teams in order to specialise in this area, as most do already with other forms of digital media.I think there will be some small agencies who will build one off devices which will be good for freelance jobs but I can alsosee there will be a demand for permanent talent as broadcasters, advertisers and even brands will need people to maintain and improve what they create.
