People don't realize that there are many job opportunities in the engineering and manufacturing sectors

. We only hear the doom and gloom on the television, internet or newspaper. One company or another is closing down and laying off workers. For those that aren't closing down they are scaling back operations and have no openings. But there is hope. If you want a job you can get one. If you've never thought about working in engineering or manufacturing think again. There are many opportunities that you might have missed.

Civil Engineering

People that work in civil engineering manage people and projects. They will generally work on construction sites as they have to oversee the projects that they are a part of. Many times they have designed or are on the design team for a particular project. You will need to have a bachelor's degree or higher to enter into this field. The salary level makes this worth it for $50,000 to $90,000+ per year depending on your experience level.

Green Renewable Energy

Green energy is all the rage now. As countries all over the world are trying to cut down on using chemicals and practices that are harmful to the earth and its inhabitants this is an area where jobs are plentiful. If this is your passion you can turn it into a career. There are many companies now that engineer or manufacture biofuel, solar or wind energy that help to reduce the carbons in the atmosphere. If this sounds like something you are interested in it could become more than a hobby, but the start of a new life.

Architecture

If you used to play with leggo blocks when you were younger then you might have found your calling. A career in architecture entails planning, overseeing the physical construction of a structure whether residential or commercial. You will need a BBA and three years of on the job training to obtain a job in this field. You must also obtain a license to practice and have to pass an exam to get that license. The salary starts at a $40,000 to $90,000+.

Manufacturing

The manufacturing sector has taken a hit lately in the automobile industry. However there are other industries that are still alive and well. Many jobs in this field pertain to the production, distribution, operational management, and marketing of products. So these jobs might be on the executive level, middle management to someone with no college experience. If you want to get promoted you will need to get a four year degree. Jobs are also created by businesses that deal with manufacturing companies as well. So if you can think of any manufacturer in your area what are some of the vendors that supply parts to it? This could be a potential job source.

There are many jobs available for those that choose to look for them. You can easily find them in the engineering and manufacturing sectors. Some are older positions like operational management while others are being created in green energy. All of them are out there you just simply need to look.
