If you live in a climate that can not be predicted, then you may want to have a backup plan just in case of unusual weather comes. A barbecue in cold weather can have negative memories instead of having good memories with your family and friends.

Barbecuing has been around since early cavemen discovered that the food have better tastes after being cooked on an open fire. Perhaps one of the main memories attached to a traditional barbecue party is what was on the menu that day. The type of food you serve will largely depend on the type of guests and the event we are celebrating. With the wide range of possibilities, you are sure to find at least some items that will please your audience.

Make sure you prepare ahead for your barbecue. Around 12 to 24 hours for preparation time before you start the party. Be sure to thaw, prepare, and marinate the meat before you grill them.

Once the meat is stored, you should start thinking about what kind of side dishes you will also have. If you want a traditional barbecue completely, traditional barbecue side dishes include potatoes and potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw. You can also include pickles, salsa and onions. These foods are typically served at barbecue parties because they are easy to prepare and store until the event take place. You may want to cook other items, but any type of barbecue party is complete with only the items listed above.

A barbecue with a good theme may have more opportunities to celebrate a festive event. With a themed event, you can splurge on the atmosphere and decor. Matching tablecloths, napkins and plates can be found at any local store. You can also match your decor to the party. For example, you can be creative by placing colored utensils, necklaces, and torches, all of which are very cheap. You can even reuse these things later!

Your party area should be set up before the guests arrive. It only takes a few minutes to get everything done, but the reaction you get from your arriving guests may make you feel like you're preparing and decorating all day. You should start grilling before your guests arrive; the smell will surely be inviting!
