Panic Attack Information Every Sufferer Should Know
You know you've had a panic attack if you've ever had a sudden
, intense feeling of fear and dread which made you feel it a little difficult to breathe and made your heart beat very fast. You may have had such an experience in spite of there being no apparent reason for such feelings coming over you such as an immediate threat to your life or safety.
The common feature of these experiences is a tremendous feeling of dread and unrealistic terror over some imaginary catastrophe. The problem is that such episodes are not caused by realistic apprehensions. However, some traumatic incidents in real life may also trigger such bouts of fear and continue to linger in the mind of the sufferer.
The causes vary from person to person. Some causes are mental and some are physical. Some experts believe that they are caused by some physical damage in the brain. Whatever the cause, the way such attacks show themselves in the person are fairly similar. The more common symptoms are an increased heart rate, dizziness, difficulty in breathing, nausea, a sense of impending death or hopelessness and extreme nervousness.
You can treat extreme anxiety condition or disorder in various ways. It depends on individual need. Therapy is an effective way to deal with these conditions because they can help people recognise what causes their illogical fears to arise and also help them notice their own reactions to such situations. In this process they become better able to control themselves and their feelings toward such incidents.
There are several types of medicines known as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors or SSRIs and Tricyclic Antidepressants which can be used for these ailments. Alternative methods include aromatherapy, hypnotism, yoga and herbal remedies. Panic attacks are curable if the proper approach is adopted in understanding and addressing the condition.
