Perennialism means that one should teach the things that one deems to be of everlasting importance to all people everywhere. Perennialism philosophy of education says since people are human, one should teach first about humans, not machines or techniques. Religious Perennialism
Secular Perennialism- As Robert Hutchins and Mortimer Adler says in secular Perennialism, the word perennial suggests something that lasts for an indefinite long time, recurs again and again, or is self-renewing. This kind of Perennialism education comprises the humanist and scientific traditions. The important thing in secular Perennialism is learning to reason. Secular Perennialism also advocates using original work in education.
Religious Perennialism- Thomas Aquinas says Religious Perennialism is focused on the personal development of the student, and says that all learning could not come from within, because it always had to be provided as sensed signs that the student must perceive. Religious Perennialism is 1st developed by Thomas Aquinas so it has Christian educational Perennialism so this was rejected from being permissible.
Perennialism is an important subject that is taught at all academic levels. Education Perennialism believes that they should teach the things of universal importance to the humankind. Perennialism was a solution proposed in response to what was considered by many to be a failing educational system. Education Perennialism says one should teach liberal topics first, not vocational topics.
Perennialism philosophy of education is a very conservative and inflexible philosophy of education. Students are taught to reason through structured lessons and drills.
